Imagine wandering among beautiful flowers, trees and foliage and stopping here and there to experience beautiful and uplifting piano music played by professional musicians as well as talented amateurs of every age, ethnicity, and persuasion, and you will have some idea of the joy to be had in attending this ninth iteration of Flower Piano, an uplifting, magical yearly event.
Sunset Piano, in partnership with the San Francisco Botanical Garden, will bring over a dozen pianos to the spectacular 55-acre Botanical Garden in Golden Gate Park for this interactive music festival. Pianos are placed in beautiful garden settings for anyone to play, with performances by brilliant local musicians scheduled on weekends. Over forty thousand people experienced music of every genre from both sides of the keyboard in past years and celebrated human civilization at its best. Check out the Sunset Piano website here https://sunsetpiano.com/flowerpiano/ for photos and more information.
Ticket information is not yet available, but usually San Francisco residents are admitted free with proof of residency, while non-SF residents pay a nominal fee. That was $9.00 for adults and $7.00 for seniors over 65 the last time we attended in 2019. We will send out an update when the prices are announced.
We will meet at noon at the main gate in front of the ticket booth there. After enjoying an afternoon of beautiful al-fresco music amid the beauty of the Botanical Garden, we will walk over to 9th Avenue for a dinner at one of the many great restaurants there in the bustling Inner Sunset neighborhood.
